"Local Restaurant Shuts Down Due to Debts of £58"

From "The Slander" (July 1997)

Popular restaurant The Steamer has went out of business, leaving twenty-three people unemployed and workplace with nowhere to go for Christmas dinner.

The former owner slammed the management team of Shreck's Department Store, who had organised a disastrous pub quiz but failed to fulfil the "free drink" deal they had promised staff.

"They started hounding one of the teams for weeks for a bill they shouldn't need to pay. The worst thing about it was the management team hadn't even paid their own tab yet!" The owner said as he pulled down the shutters for the final time.

Norm Peterson, who frequented the bar, said "I heard there was one member of the team who held his ground. He stood up to them. He showed no fear. He told the store manager straight to his face that they were bang out of order and his team wouldn't be paying for the drinks. Is he the department manager? No? Well, he should be."
